About C.C.C. Trailhead

The C.C.C. Trail is a small hiking and snowmobiling pathway in Savoy Mountain State Forest. Upon arrival, visitors will see a wide double-track trail through a serene Western Massachusetts pine forest. The trail will soon climb from Tannery Road and pass through fern meadows. Many local wildlife species will be visible.

Throughout the warmer months, the rocky ground is covered with a soft bed of pine needles. Then, when snow arrives in winter, this route becomes perfect for a snowmobile ride through the forest. Ultimately, the trail leads to Torrey Road: a small dirt road that branches from Black Brook Road.

Savoy Mountain State Forest is a large outdoor recreation area with plenty of opportunities for an enjoyable day in the Berkshires. The forest features campsites, swimming areas, and over 50 miles of hiking trails. In the summertime, the forest has various programming for overnight visitors at the local campground. The area is also open for hunting during the appropriate seasons.

Visitors will find the trail on the shoulder of Tannery Road. Tannery Road is seasonal and becomes a groomed snowmobile trail in the winter. In winter it may look passable or recently plowed when groomed, but wheeled vehicles are prohibited. The Trail is accessible from Black Brook Road in the winter months.
