About Money Brook Trailhead

The Money Brook Trailhead brings visitors to numerous hiking trails in Mount Greylock State Reservation. Leaving directly from the trailhead, visitors will hike on the Money Brook Trail. The trail will steadily descend through a tranquil Western Massachusetts forest and arrive at a small junction. Heading toward the right, visitors will find the Wilbur's Clearing Shelter. This backcountry camping area features a three-sided shelter, a privy, and a bear box.

Toward the left, on the other hand, visitors can follow a steep downhill path to Money Brook Falls. After traveling alongside Money Brook, the trail will soon arrive at scenic views of an immense cascade. Visitors can picnic, relax, and listen to the soothing sound of the water.

There are also additional hiking trails across Notch Road from the parking lot. A narrow path heads through a dense forest and arrives at Old Summit Road. In either direction on this trail, hikers will eventually reach the Appalachian Trail. From there, visitors can access expansive overlooks of the Berkshires both southbound at Mount Greylock and northbound at Prospect Overlook.

Visitors will find a small parking lot on the shoulder of Notch Road. When this road is closed between late October and mid-May, the trail is only accessible by foot.

The State Reservation is open for hunting from Columbus Day to May 19th; however, it is prohibited within the Summit's War Memorial Park any time of the year.
