Sperry Road Campground is temproarily closed for renovations and upgrades.
This is the main parking lot for the Sperry Road Campground in Mount Greylock State Reservation. Upon arrival, visitors will find an easy, family-friendly hiking trail leaving from across Rockwell Road. This trail will continue on a steady incline in a forest of hardwood trees, pines, and spruces. Plenty of local Western Massachusetts wildlife species, including songbirds and amphibians, are often visible throughout the year's warmer months.
The trail will eventually arrive at Sperry Road, where visitors should turn left to reach the campground. This camping is a reservable hike in back-country experience with an expansive array of shelters and tent sites, offering a perfect place to stay with family or friends. Visitors will find several group sites, 18 individual sites, and four backcountry bathroom facilities. Each campsite offers a fire pit, a bear box, and a picnic table.
Around the campground, there are many additional hiking trails. For instance, visitors can hike to Deer Hill Falls or March Cataract Falls. Stony Ledge, further down Sperry Road, also provides excellent scenic views of the summit of Mount Greylock.
Visitors will find a large parking lot on the shoulder of Rockwell Road, which leads to the top of Mount Greylock. When Rockwell Road is closed between late October and mid-May, this trailhead is only accessible by foot or snowmobile.
The State Reservation is open for hunting from October to May; however, it is prohibited within the Summit's War Memorial Park any time of the year.
