Things to do in Becket
Lakes and forests feature predominantly in Becket. The town also hosts a variety of summer camps, a section of the Appalachian Trail, the Berkshire Fishing Club, and cross-country skiing at Canterbury Farm.
The Becket Land Trust operates the Becket Quarry, a legacy of Berkshire County’s long history of quarrying and a popular hiking spot. The remains of quarrying machinery offer visitors insights into the danger and difficulty of harvesting building stone used throughout the East Coast.
October Mountain State Forest occupies the western edge of Becket and offers opportunities for hikers, birdwatchers, hunters and anglers, mountain bikers, snowmobilers, and ORV enthusiasts. Paddlers, anglers, and swimmers will find solitude and limited development on the town’s many lakes, including Buckley Dunton Lake, Center Pond, and Greenwater Pond.
