About Shales Brook WMA
Shales Brook Wildlife Management Area, located on Tyringham Road in Becket, provides an excellent opportunity for hunting, fishing, and wildlife viewing in the Berkshires. This WMA is primarily forested with a mix of hardwood trees; however, a small 19-acre unnamed pond is in the middle. Visitors will have to bushwack to the pond to access it. Given the pond's presence, hunters can successfully hunt white-tailed deer and black bears. There is also the opportunity to hunt waterfowl or to trap furbearers. The scenic pond also provides a great opportunity to watch migrant waterfowl.
