About Felton Trail

The Felton Trail is a gem hidden within October Mountain State Forest in Washington, MA. This wide dirt trail is designed for motorized vehicles such as dirt bikes and ATVs. At the trailhead, a sign says that this trail is "rugged and rocky," alluding to the fact that it has some steep hills, sharp turns, and lots of roots and rocks within the trail to add an extra challenge for riders. Therefore, this might be a more challenging ride for both visitors on motorized vehicles and mountain bikes, but this is a beautiful trail to hike as it goes straight towards Felton Lake. This area is dog- and hunting-friendly, so visitors can enjoy various outdoor activities in this sheltered location in Western Massachusetts.

This trail courses through October Mountain State Forest, through the vastly diverse wilderness and scenery that it has to offer. Countless bird and animal species call this forest home, such as white-tailed deer, turkeys, barred owls, and even bears, so riders and hikers should watch to spot them rustling through the underbrush or soaring through the treetops. A wide variety of vegetation and fungi make this part of the forest one of the more vibrant parts of the Berkshires. All visitors interested in ORV riding in the Berkshires, or simply a nice hike through the woods, should find this wonderful trail hidden within October Mountain State Forest.
