About Berkshire Community Rowing

Berkshire Community Rowing is located on Onota Lake in Pittsfield, within Burbank Park. The rowing club provides several sculling opportunities for all ages and experience levels, offering individual lessons, group rowing sessions (both recreational and competitive), rentals, and winter programs. In addition to abundant rowing activities, they also offer storage services for single boats.

Between the Burbank Park boat launch and public beach, the boathouse is easily accessible with parking nearby, and its location on Onota Lake provides premier views of the surrounding Berkshire mountains. In addition to its surrounding views, the lake and its quiet, forested landscape function as a habitat for notable wildlife species, such as great blue heron and bald eagles. Rowing crew can provide excellent exercise, comradery, and competition, and BCR’s location on one of the most pristine water bodies in Western Massachusetts certainly amplifies the quality of this experience.

Onota Lake is 617 acres with 7.4 miles of shoreline and offers a 2-mile-long stretch across the lake. A testament to the lake, Williams College Varsity Crew uses Onota and recently built a state-of-the-art boathouse on the lake’s northern shore. For visitors hoping to experience Onota Lake through the offerings of Berkshire Community Rowing, the BCR website is attached below and outlines updated programs, events, and rental opportunities.
