South Street Memorial Park is a veterans memorial park and statue managed by the City of Pittsfield. Upon arrival, visitors will see a large monument to veterans from Pittsfield. This statue has multiple stone benches where visitors can sit and rest. To the right of the monument, there is also an additional memorial to the veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This large headstone rests next to a series of stairs, which descend toward the sidewalk along Route 7. Then, behind the primary statue, visitors will find a memorial plaque for a local veteran who died during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
The remainder of the park offers benches and plenty of shade from the surrounding forest. Visitors can rest on the lawn, picnic, and see local Western Massachusetts wildlife species in the trees. There is also a bench beside Route 7, where visitors can relax and watch traffic flow through the Berkshires.
Visitors will find parking in a small roundabout at the corner of Colts Road and Veterans Way.
