This parking area for Chalet WMA provides visitors with scenic views and plenty of wildlife. A short trail leaves from the parking lot and immediately enters an open meadow. Wildflowers and bird species abound throughout this meadow, which is bordered by a tall forest. It is also possible to see a prominent view of the Berkshires rising towards the west.
Wildlife spotting is excellent at all times of the year in these Western Massachusetts ecosystems. In addition to birds, plenty of other animal species—including moose—live in Chalet WMA. The area is also great for hunting. Bear, turkey, white-tailed deer, and other game species thrive in these undeveloped woods.
There is a small parking lot for this part of the WMA off Windsor Road east of the intersection with Jenks Road.
