About Hinsdale Athletic Field

The Hinsdale Athletic Field, located on South Street, is Hinsdale's go-to Little League baseball field. This 7.2-acre park contains a single baseball field with a spacious open area past the outfield. The ballfield's dimensions are that of a standard Little League field, with equidistance 200-foot outfield walls, 60 feet between each base, and 46 feet from the pitcher's mound to home plate. The field is fully fenced, contains roofed dugouts, and has a small set of bleachers in the outfield.

The Dalton-Hinsdale Little League program uses this field for practice throughout the spring, though games are typically held at Dalton's Chamberlain Park. Those interested in having their kids join the league are encouraged to contact the organization. Western Massachusetts has historic ties to baseball, and some evidence even suggests that the sport was born in nearby Pittsfield. It is no wonder that youth leagues throughout the Berkshires excel and boast numerous teams. Apart from the ballfield, parkgoers enjoy an acre of open space beyond the outfield that can be used to create a makeshift soccer field, throw a frisbee, fly a kite, or walk a dog. There are also a couple acres of forest at the park, but no trails exist.

The park is about a half mile south of Hinsdale's center on Route 8. A large sign marks the park's entrance, where a small dirt road leads to a parking area and the baseball field.
