The Windsor Pond Boat Launch offers boaters a paved entry point to Windsor Pond, a 48-acre waterbody in eastern Berkshire County. The launch area includes a 12-space parking lot adjacent to the only point publicly available to access the pond's shore. Typically quiet and ideal for boating, kayaking, or fishing, Windsor Pond averages a depth of 21 feet, reaches a maximum depth of 55 feet, and has limited (and consolidated) aquatic vegetation. Additionally, the pond fosters the growth of and hosts a diverse range of fish species, not limited to large pickerel and stocked rainbow and brook trout. Regardless of desired aquatic activities, Windsor Pond offers visitors a beautiful and calm atmosphere. Trees, mountains, and homes surround the water in this sparsely populated town, highlighting the pond as an ideal Western Massachusetts landscape.
The Windsor Pond Boat Launch is located off West Main Street and is managed by the Massachusetts Division of Conservation and Recreation. Cleaning all recreational equipment meant to enter the pond is essential before arriving at the boat launch. Kayaks, boats, paddleboards, etc., can carry nuisance species from other bodies of water and damage the ecosystem in Windsor Pond (and elsewhere). Visitors should always be conscious of their equipment use when exploring different water bodies with the same equipment.
Tell others about this place
The boat launch at Windsor Pond has two accessible parking spots, one on the side of the road by the pond and the other one on the side with the boat parking spots. From the parking lot, a paved boat launch provides water access. There are no accessibility aids on the boat launch, which can make accessibility difficult for some visitors. The boat launch’s main purpose is to provide water access to boats and isn’t made for use by non-boaters. The only other water access, aside from the boat launch, is from the grassy shores of the pond. The long grass and uneven terrain around the shores of Windsor Pond can make accessing the water difficult for some visitors.
