Springside Park is a hiking and mountain biking trailhead managed by the City of Pittsfield. Visitors will have several options for an enjoyable day of outdoor recreation in the Berkshires. Multiple trails leave from the trailhead, all traveling on varied terrain. Visitors will soon find themselves in an exciting labyrinth of pathways through forests, meadows, and wetlands. Plenty of local Western Massachusetts wildlife species, including birds and insects, are visible along the trails throughout the summertime. Wildflowers also abound when the weather begins to warm in spring.
Eventually, the trails connect to other features of the park, such as the local arboretum and a small pavilion. Visitors will also find a playground and a picnic table near the trailhead.
Springside Park is a 237-acre property managed by the City of Pittsfield. The property grew from the Springside House, constructed in the mid-1800s. After almost becoming a commercial golf course, the park experienced a revival and is now home to numerous Western Massachusetts outdoor recreation opportunities. The city currently plans to renovate the park's facilities, including possibly adding a mountain bike park.
Visitors will find a small parking lot at the end of the Springside Park dirt road, which branches directly from North Street.
