About Ski Butternut

Ski Butternut is a family-friendly ski mountain in Great Barrington. When winter comes to Western Massachusetts, both beginners and experts flock to the resort for its groomed snow and uncompetitive environment. A bunny hill featuring 4 conveyor lifts and beginner chairlift combined with a large Snowsports School of instructors make Butternut the perfect place for those looking to learn how to ski or snowboard. The main mountain offers a vertical drop of 1000 ft and 22 trails with 100% snowmaking capabilities to satiate every type of skier. Beginner runs allow visitors to gradually build their confidence on the slopes. Black diamonds, on the other hand, help experts constantly improve their skills. The mountain also features two terrain parks of varying difficulties, further providing more options for family fun.

If tired of skiing or snowboarding, the ski resort also has a tubing area for adventure-seekers. Freshly groomed lanes allow visitors to sit and speed down the hill. Afterward, a moving carpet will take them back to the top.

Visitors will find the mountain on State Road, just after the intersection with Lake Buel Road. From the top of the hill down to the base, visitors will access panoramic scenic views of the surrounding Berkshires. There are also restaurants and snack bars on-site.
