About Barrett Woods East

Barrett Woods is a small, undeveloped property managed by BNRC. The property is split into two parcels, one east and another west. Both parcels feature unique Western Massachusetts ecosystems, such as wetlands and vernal pools. They are also excellent places for wildlife viewing throughout the year; visitors will likely encounter a diverse array of bird and insect species.

The eastern part of Barrett Woods is a dense woodland area. Upon arrival, visitors will see a tall grove of pine trees and a thick underbrush of grape vines. The property is difficult to navigate and challenging for experienced hikers. It is nevertheless low-traveled and ideal for finding white-tailed deer during hunting season in the late fall.

There is no designated parking for the east parcel of the woods. Visitors should park on the shoulder of Seekonk Cross Road. The property is open to hunting during the appropriate seasons in the Berkshires.
