Old Route 7 Greenway
Great Barrington, MA
Memorial Park is Great Barrington's go-to full-sized baseball field and skate park right by downtown. Throughout the spring and summer, the baseball diamond is used by leagues spanning Western Massachusetts and beyond. Typically, these baseball games occur in the evening, so visitors are most likely to find the field vacant during mornings and afternoons. The field has two covered dugouts, bleachers, a backstop, and L-screens. In 2023, improvement projects began on the field, aiming to modernize its amenities and increase the quality of the playing area.
Across the baseball field is the town's only skate park, a popular hangout spot for local youth. The park is lit at night, and its central location within Great Barrington makes it a safe place for all ages at any time of the day. While skateboarding is the most common activity, most park features are suitable for BMX biking and freestyle scootering. The park's defining feature is its U-shaped bowl, offering a roughly five-foot drop and a 90-degree embankment—perfect for extended air time and smooth landings. Adjacent to the skatepark is a full-sized basketball court and the Church Street Trailhead, making Memorial Park a great place to enjoy various outdoor activities in the Berkshires.
Memorial Park has a small parking lot near the skate park that often fills up. Visitors can use any of the free public lots throughout downtown, but the walkable surrounding area makes it an excellent place for those looking to ditch the car.
