A downtown riverside trail connecting you to the Housatonic River, River Walk allows you to view the beauty of the river from upstream and downstream sections that are easily connected with a neighborhood stroll. Cultural connections to W.E.B Dubois and Richard Stanley are featured, along with a carefully rehabilitated natural landscape. Visitors to GBLC’s Housatonic River Walk will be able to continue their journey southward on a five-foot wide pathway from Bridge Street through Olympian Meadows.
The Housatonic Riverwalk is a national recreation trail that follows the Housatonic River in downtown Great Barrington. The Church Street trailhead provides access to the southern section of the trail, from Pleasant Street to Bridge Street. The trail has been restored to a natural environment, allowing visitors and residents of downtown Great Barrington easy access to nature. The Housatonic Riverwalk is truly a unique downtown nature trail in the Berkshires and Western Massachusetts.
