Parking Area North
Agawam Lake WMA
Stockbridge, MA
Wildlife Viewing | Hunting | Fishing
This parking area in the Agawam Lake WMA is only open during white-tailed deer hunting season. A rugged dirt road off northbound Route 7 brings visitors to a small parking area in a dense forest. These serene, undeveloped woods and surrounding wetlands create a perfect environment for finding deer during the appropriate season. Visitors can also cross the road and ice fish in Agawam Lake if the weather permits.
The Agawam Lake WMA is a tranquil place to view wildlife, including waterfowl and small mammals. The WMA is also the location of a calcareous fen, which provides a habitat for some rare species native to Western Massachusetts.
The parking area for the southern part of the WMA is off northbound Route 7, just past Windy Hill Farm.
