Lake Mansfield Park is one of the most popular places for families and friends to enjoy a summer day in Great Barrington. The park offers swimming access to Lake Mansfield, an expansive playground, open fields for picnics, and a serene walking trail system, making the park a great place to find fun things to do in the Berkshires for people of all ages and interests. Swimming is most common from Memorial Day through August, and lifeguards are on duty during this time. Picnic tables and grills scatter the park, making it easy to spend hours at the lake as barbecues and picnics keep visitors fueled throughout the day. Forgot to bring food? No problem—the park is surrounded by crab apple trees, offering all visitors a tasty and healthy snack. The youngest parkgoers enjoy the playground, which is equipped with a large swingset and climbing bars.
Across the street from this park is a collection of short trails in the Lake Manfield Recreation Area and Conservation Forest. These shaded walking trails are marked, easy to navigate, and provide connections between the lake and its surrounding communities. These trails are built to accessible standards and are made of a crushed stone surface. While many enjoy the trails as an addition to their long day at Lake Mansfield, others visit the park exclusively for the trails, as the forest is a popular spot for a restorative walk. Wildlife enthusiasts also frequent the forest to observe the diverse bird species of Western Massachusetts. The park has a large parking lot, and recent projects have added a pedestrian path to Lake Mansfield Road, which has become a popular road for running/jogging, dog walking, and other leisurely activities. A raised crosswalk connects the parking area with the lake, while the pedestrian path along Lake Mansfield Road connects parkgoers with the Lake Mansfield Boat Launch.

Lake Mansfield Park and Beach offers expansive parking for at least 30 cars. At least 20 of these spots are on flat asphalt, and an additional 10 spots are on recycled tire material. The parking area offers three accessible parking spaces in total, with two of them adjacent to the trail entrance and a third located across from the playground. Both the beach and playground are accessible via flat paved paths. Playground features are set over woodchips and separated by grass. The beach is even across, containing a subtle 3-5% slope to the water. Picnic areas in front of the beach are accessible by grass only, though the area is flat. For the trails accessible from the parking lot, the main trail through the nearby conservation forest is accessible. This trail spans .9 miles, consisting of flat, even crushed stone. Additional spurs of the trail run over dirt and contain sections with roots but are also flat. Two standard portable restrooms are also located next to the playground.
