Kirvin Park is a family-friendly athletic complex, hiking area, and playground managed by the City of Pittsfield. Visitors will have several options for an enjoyable day of outdoor recreation in Western Massachusetts.
Immediately, at the parking lot, visitors will find an expansive lawn with scenic views of the Berkshires. This lawn makes an excellent soccer field, ideal for competitive team play and individual practice. Then, next to the field, there is a small playground and a little free library. On warm summer days, families can picnic and play under the sun.
Visitors will also find a dirt road leaving from the parking lot. This road travels through the park and arrives at a disc golf course on a hill. Toward the right, there is also an outdoor basketball court where visitors can practice or play with friends.
Continuing on the dirt road, visitors will descend to another athletic field. With its excellent views of the mountains, this field is a perfect place for summertime games.
Soon, the dirt road ends at Sackett Brook, where visitors can access an 3.7 mile long hiking trail network. These trails sprawl throughout the woods and offer glimpses of local wildlife species.
A large dirt parking lot is off eastbound Williams Street, just after Juliana Drive.

When first arriving at Kirvin Park, visitors will notice a large gravel parking lot. The parking lot surface is rough and uneven, as the gravel used for the parking lot is coarse. Right by the parking lot is a playground. There is no direct path of access from the parking lot to the playground, and a 1-foot lip surrounds the playground, with a break in the lip allowing visitors to access the playground. From the parking lot, a gravel road also runs deep into the park. This gravel road is behind a locked gate, so visitors will have to navigate around it through 2-foot entrances on either side of the gate. The road runs past the soccer fields, where there is a 6-foot entrance but no path access to it. Further up the hill past the soccer fields is a frisbee golf course. The golf course features wide, smooth grass paths, which are typically around 8 to 10 feet wide but can be wider or narrower at certain points. These paths run the entire length of the frisbee golf course, and their conditions can be variable. Although the paths are flat at points, they can also have slopes exceeding 12% as they run up and down the hill. Past the frisbee golf course, there is a baseball field with no direct path access, and past that, there are entrances to the hiking and mountain bike trails located at the top of the park. These trails are between 3 and 5 feet wide and can get overgrown at points, making the trail even narrower. To access these trails, visitors will need to cross a bridge. This bridge is 6 feet wide and has a 6-inch lip to get onto the bridge.
