About Greenridge Park

Greenridge Park is a family-friendly park on South Street in Dalton, just across the Pittsfield border. In a relatively populated area, the park provides numerous opportunities for those wishing to enjoy an open outdoor space. The property includes a playground equipped with swings, slides, and climbing structures ideal for younger children. A soccer field, open field, full basketball court, and backstop for baseball offer visitors options to play recreational sports or spaces for other outdoor activities, such as throwing a frisbee or running with a dog. Scattered picnic tables invite those wishing to eat lunch outside or offer a seat for parents watching their child on the playground.

Greenridge Park has a convenient parking area; it provides dozens of parking spots and an easily maneuverable entrance and exit for drivers. Also, adjacent to Greenridge Variety, park visitors can easily access simple food/snack options. Adding another option for outdoor recreation in the Berkshires, Greenridge Park provides opportunities for various activities for people of all ages and functions as an open greenspace for residents or passersby.

Accessibility Assessment

Features
  • Accessible Parking

Upon arriving at Greenridge Park, visitors will notice two accessible parking spaces, one located in the lower section of the paved parking lot and the other in the upper section, providing ample accessible parking options. Once visitors are in the parking lot, they will notice a lack of path access from the parking lot to the playground, playing fields, and basketball court. The parking lot is also cut off from all the park amenities by a large grass embankmen. At the upper end of the parking lot, near the upper accessible parking spot, the grass is flatter, and there is no longer a grass embankment. Once at the playground, visitors will notice that the playground equipment is separated from the rest of the park by wood chips.
