On Orchard Road in Dalton, the Wahconah Country Club offers Berkshires visitors and residents the opportunity to play a picturesque 18-hole golf course. The track offers a range of settings, from wide-open fairways and large greens on the front nine holes to narrow tree-lined fairways on the back nine. Rolling hills and occasional water features enhance the scenery and challenge the players. As the foliage changes, players can experience stunning views of the Western Massachusetts fall season. Semi-private, the club offers membership but is also available to be played by the public. Additionally, Wahconah Country Club hosts numerous tournaments throughout the year. Its clubhouse includes a bar and restaurant and can also be rented for weddings and events.
Wahconah Country Club is a property of 155 acres, including forests and wetlands. Wayne Stiles began designing the property as a golf course in 1928, which has since been conserved and renovated for the same purpose. During its time as a golf course, the land has experienced the planting of thousands of trees, including an established tree nursery adjacent to its 12th and 14th holes. The rich forests upon the property help to create natural beauty that makes golfing in the Berkshires desirable to many. For information regarding green fees, golf tournament dates, and changes to on-site facilities, visit the Wahconah Country Club website.
