Dorothy Amos Park is an athletic complex and play area managed by the City of Pittsfield. Here, visitors will have numerous options for an enjoyable day of family-friendly outdoor recreation in the Berkshires. The front of the park features three outdoor basketball courts, ideal for individual practice and competitive team play. Bleachers, meanwhile, rest alongside the courts and leave space for spectators.
Surrounding the basketball courts, visitors will find a paved walking path with benches. These benches often rest in the shade and provide an excellent spot to relax on hot summer days in Western Massachusetts. The West Branch of the Housatonic River also flows alongside the path, creating a soothing sound throughout the park.
The back of the park has picnic tables and an expansive playground for young kids of all ages. Families can bring lunch to the park and play on hot summer days. A forest of tall trees also surrounds this play area, offering ample shade and constant wildlife-viewing opportunities. In autumn, these trees change color and drop a vibrant carpet of leaves on the park's lawn.
There is no designated parking lot for Dorothy Amos Park. Visitors should park elsewhere in Pittsfield.
