About Donato's Trail

Donato's Trail is fantastic for hikers to enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Goose Pond Reservation in Lee, MA. The trail was developed in a partnership between the Lee Land Trust and the Trustees of Reservations, who protect and manage thousands of acres of scenic land in Western Massachusetts. Donato's Trail igives hikers a window into the beautiful wilderness of the Berkshires.

This trail is a moderately challenging hike, as right from the start, it climbs up a pathway of steep stone steps before embarking on a set of switchbacks before reaching the loop portion of the trail, which is a hilly hike through the towering trees of the Goose Pond Reservation. In the winter, hikers can glimpse Goose Pond through the trees. The forest floor is colored with vibrant shades of green from this area's vast undergrowth, from ferns to mountain laurel; this trail provides hikers with scenic Western Massachusetts beauty at every turn.

The trailhead is in a small parking lot on Jacob's Ladder Trail Scenic Byway. It has excellent signage and maps, as well as a picnic table and handicapped parking, which makes this a perfect spot for a picnic. Due to its easy access and excellent trail conditions, Donato's Trail is an ideal moderately difficult hiking trail for the whole family to enjoy the crisp, fresh air of the Berkshires.
