Blue Rider Stables is a small, family-friendly horseback riding center in the Western Massachusetts town of Egremont. The center focuses on therapeutic riding, through which equestrian activities serve as a healing process for both young kids and adults. The center offers various different types of lessons, both beginner and intermediate. There are also summer programs, perfect for kids on summer break.
All students start with bare-back riding (riding without a saddle) to gain core strength and better understand the process of riding. Then, after that, students can progress and improve their skills. There are also vaulting lessons, where students learn to do acrobatic skills on horseback.
Along with serving as empathetic companions, the horses often go through their own rehabilitation process. Many of the horses are older and have injuries from previous experiences.
The center features a barn and an outdoor riding area. Beyond the property, visitors will see scenic views of the Berkshires. These mountains turn bright orange and yellow when the weather cools in autumn.
Visitors will find Blue Rider Stables at the end of Farm Lane, which intersects with Mount Washington Road. Visitors can book experiences by appointment only.
