About Wyantenuck Country Club

Wyantenuck Country Club is a private 18-hole golf course on West Sheffield Road in Great Barrington. As one of the quieter golf courses in Western Massachusetts, Wyantenuck offers a fantastic golfing experience on a historic property. The golf course provides breathtaking views of the back hills of the Berkshires and is surrounded by forests and farmland.

Renowned for its consistent, high level of playing conditions, the golf course measures a comfortable 6,500 yards with three sets of tees flexible enough for any game. Wyantenuck is ‘quietly’ known across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts by golfers as a ‘western Mass gem’ with the right mix of challenge, fun, and scenery.

When Wyantenuck moved to its present location on West Sheffield Road the vision of a full, top shelf tennis facility was one of the factors. Today, the Club is the last hold-out in Berkshire County to the throwback era of red clay courts (5) where players enjoy the game at all levels and develop their techniques for the ‘knee-friendly’ experience of playing on clay. A pro-shop and spacious veranda sprinkled with chairs offers players time to prepare for play and to reset after a first round of games. The Tennis program includes inter-club matches, workshops, and a spirited junior program. Tennis professional Liviu Mancas is a world ranked player and teacher who bristles with enthusiasm for teaching players to get the most out of their games.

The Wyantenuck Country Club is a place where many of its members ‘grew-up’ learning to swim. The ‘pool area’ is a sizable quadrant with a pool house for changing and a supply of lounges, chairs and umbrella tables suitable for spending time enjoying a bite of lunch or snacks during a break in swimming. Families and friends enjoy the space as it suits them, sometimes just to ease off from their regular routine.

The Wyantenuck Clubhouse is a marvel to most. It is a ‘lightly’ converted horse barn that was an original part of the property when it was known as Baldwin Farm in 1912. “Whatever its interior limitations by modern standards, it remains a 19th century architectural gem,” that Club founders rightfully preserved and leveraged as what is now a unique clubhouse of immense character with a sweeping porch where many a Sunday New York Times has been read, and a recently added flagstone patio where members and visitors gather instinctively after the day’s activities.
