About Tierney Conservation Area

Tierney Conservation Area is a 47-acre plot of undeveloped forest and wetland habitat managed by the City of Pittsfield. Visitors will find a dense Western Massachusetts maple-pine woodland, with a small unmaintained trail leading through a thick brush. Floodplain plant species, including sycamore and cottonwood, dominate this forest. Then, after a short hike, the path will arrive at an open wetland where visitors can view various wildlife species. In the springtime, migratory waterfowl stop in this wetland on their way through the Berkshires. Amphibians are also easily audible throughout summer.

A small parking lot is off southbound Jason Street, just before crossing the railroad tracks.
