Bakerville Conservation Area is a dense woodland property managed by the City of Pittsfield. Upon arrival, visitors will find a wide gravel walking trail through dense woodland. Maples and pines dominate this forest, and plenty of local Western Massachusetts wildlife species are easily seen. Various bird species, for example, are abundant in these woods throughout the spring and summer.
The path continues through the forest and follows a swift-moving creek, which echoes throughout the surrounding trees. Then, the pathway arrives at a powerline field before soon ending.
The remainder of the conservation area is undeveloped and brushy. Regardless, on the park's north side, visitors will find excellent views of wetlands along the Southwest Branch of the Housatonic River. Pittsfield plans to eventually use this property to link several Berkshire parks with a walking and biking trail.
A small parking lot is off Barker Road, just after its branches from South Mountain Road.
