About Silver Brook North Flood Control Site

The Silver Brook North Flood Control Site is located in the quiet town of Sandisfield. Built as a reservoir to control flooding from the Farmington River, the site offers a peaceful body of water within a remote Western Massachusetts forest. With a perimeter of 1 mile, the reservoir can be used for a short paddle. It can also be fished from the shore or cartop/electric motorboats. A small parking area exists just north of the reservoir, and a short path leads from the parking area to the shoreline, providing access to the water for fishing or launching a boat.

A large hill sits above the reservoir, providing a space to walk and observe the water, surrounding trees, and various bird species. The Silver Brook North Flood Control Site is extremely quiet due to its location, and the property's densely forested landscape makes it an ideal spot for fishing or kayaking in the Berkshires.

Sandisfield is located in southeastern Berkshire County, with abundant outdoor recreation offerings. Similar to the Silver Brook North Flood Control Site, many of its public outdoor spaces are extremely serene, and see low visitation. For this reason, the town is an excellent place to explore the calming effects of nature and its spaces available to the public.
