The Seitz Reserve is an unmaintained ridgeline spanning 31 acres off Pixley Hill Road in southern West Stockbridge. This property is considered a hidden gem of the Berkshires, and it is best suited for those looking to explore the woods of Western Massachusetts independently with no trails or amenities. Although the experience is meant to be primitive, it is contained in a small space over relatively mild topography, meaning visitors do not have to be terribly adventurous to enjoy the site. One of the site's most memorable features is its collection of tall northern red oak trees, which provide excellent tree cover and glow in firey red during the fall. Since the forest is sparse, it is a suitable location for snowshoeing in the winter. It is also one of many hunting areas in the Berkshires, as white-tail deer, wild turkeys, and even bears roam the property.
Along the property's eastern edge is a steep cliff, while the west side is bordered by Pixley Hill Road. The land is surrounded by private property, so visitors should be careful to remain within the property boundaries of Seitz Reserve. There is no designated parking, so visitors with vehicles will need to find a place to park before trekking to the site.
