About Sandy Beach at Laurel Lake

Sandy Beach is open only to town residents, their guests, Lee business owners, and people staying in Lee.

Sandy Beach at Laurel Lake is Lee's go-to summer swimming place. Residents and their guests enjoy the roped swimming area, sandy shore, and expansive grass field that makes it easy to spend hours at the beach on a nice day. The field has picnic tables, cozy Adirondack chairs, and even a fire pit. A net can also be used for volleyball, badminton, or another creative beach game. The crystal-clear water and surrounding forest create a pristine natural setting on the small but popular beach. Distant views of the rolling hills of the Berkshires add to the location's charm.

Local organizations often host events, reunions, and celebrations at Sandy Beach, which makes it a treasured asset in the Lee community. Additionally, the beach can be an excellent spot for kids to celebrate a summer birthday or other special occasion. Opening day is typically marked with snacks, drinks, and fantastic energy as the community embraces the start of the summer. As a tight-knit Western Massachusetts town, Lee residents know it is nearly impossible to visit on a nice day without running into friends and acquaintances also enjoying the beach.

The beach can be accessed from a private drive off Route 20. Those eligible to access the beach who do not have a sticker can obtain one at the gate during the season and at town hall in the offseason. Please note that the beach is only open during the summer, and access is only allowed by vehicle. Dogs and alcohol are not permitted. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
