About Richmond Pond Town Beach

Looking onto the water underneath the Taconic Mountain Range, Richmond Town Beach provides a peaceful environment for visitors to swim, play, and enjoy the Berkshires outdoors. In addition to the wonderful views and calm forested landscape, the beach has a few amenities to make a family visit worthwhile. Note that the town beach is only open to Richmond and Pittsfield residents.

Located on the pond's northern end, the beach provides a small, sandy area useful for sitting near the water, though it may be too small for children to roam around. The larger grass lawn adjacent to the sand suits children hoping to run or organize lawn games. Picnic tables and grills provide picnic and lunchtime possibilities, and the water has a roped-in swimming area, usually monitored by a lifeguard during the summertime.

Fishing opportunities exist on the north end of the Richmond Town Beach parking lot, along a publicly accessible fishing trail. For prospective anglers, Richmond Pond comprises dozens of fish species and is stocked with trout by the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Wildlife. Additional species include bluegill, largemouth and rock bass, perch, pickerel, pumpkinseed, shiner, bullhead, and killifish.

Dogs and smoking are not permitted at Richmond Town Beach.
