Longcope Park is a hidden gem within Lee, MA, that is a perfect place for a short and easy hike through the beautiful forests of the Berkshires. This park contains a small loop trail that is relatively easy and flat, which takes walkers through a beautiful forest where they can enjoy the towering oak, maple, and pine trees that are native to the area and the lush undergrowth of ferns and mountain laurels which give it a variety of vibrant green colors. Visitors will cross a small bridge that passes over a babbling brook that has carved its way through this forest for years. Keen-eyed visitors can spot some wildlife that calls Longcope Park home, such as white-tailed deer, turkeys, and barred owls.
The park has a small, well-marked parking area with plenty of signs to ensure that visitors will find their way along the short, less-than-mile-long trail. The trail is an easy nature walk since it is mostly clear of rocks and roots within the trail and only has hills with slight inclines. Longcope Park should be on the list of all visitors interested in a family-friendly nature walk. The easy trail and accessible parking area make it a perfect place in Western Massachusetts to enjoy the beautiful forest scenery.
