About Joe Girardi Park

Joe Girardi Park is a small property and boat access point along the Hoosic River. The park features a small trail toward a sand beach, where visitors can start a day canoeing or kayaking on the water. The river is calm in this section, making for easy launching.

From this point, the river travels toward Williamstown and eventually into Vermont. Paddlers can pass by dense floodplain forests and access expansive scenic views of the Berkshires. During the fall, the river showcases the mountains as they erupt with the yellows and oranges of fall colors. Wildlife viewing is also excellent on this stretch of the river. Visitors will likely see diverse Western Massachusetts bird and amphibian species during the summertime. There are stopping points downriver at Lauren's Launch in Williamstown and Clayton Park in Pownal, Vermont.

For a more relaxing experience, visitors can bring a chair to the park and relax or picnic by the water. The park also has a small, unmarked trail that ambles by the river.

Visitors should park in the small dirt parking lot on Ashton Avenue before the bridge.
