About Green River WMA

The Green River WMA is a large area of undeveloped land in the heart of the Berkshires. Visitors will find a sprawling forest with plenty of local Western Massachusetts wildlife species. During appropriate seasons, hunting is excellent in these woods. Both white-tailed deer and wild turkeys are abundant throughout the WMA. The Green River also crosses the property and provides an ideal habitat for local trout species. Fishing on the river is often lucrative year-round.

A small, grassy parking lot is off southbound New Ashford Road, just before the guard rail. Further north, on Route 43, visitors will find a parking area with easy access to the Green River. Some of the land in the WMA is used for farming.
