Carrie Bak Park is a playground and wildlife-viewing area managed by the City of Pittsfield. Here, visitors have several options for a fulfilling day of outdoor recreation in the Berkshires. At the front of the park is a small play area for young kids. This wood-chipped playground features a swing set and multiple slides. There are also benches where parents can relax and watch their kids play.
Then, next to the play area, visitors will find a picnic table underneath the shade of a large tree. Families can bring lunch and picnic on warm summer days in Western Massachusetts.
Meanwhile, the back of the park offers space for viewing local Western Massachusetts wildlife species. Visitors can climb a viewing platform and look over the wetlands surrounding the West Branch of the Housatonic River. Migratory birds often stop in this area throughout spring, and amphibians are easily heard from the platform in summertime.
There is a small parking area for Carrie Bak Park at the corner of Dewey Avenue and Danforth Avenue.
