The Dark Side
Southern Berkshire Friends Meeting
Great Barrington, MA
Climbing
South Street Park is a family-friendly neighborhood park that offers a casual way for visitors to enjoy the outdoors. The park has a playground with multiple small but engaging pieces of equipment. Open space is abundant in the park, and canopies of oak and pine trees keep much of the park shaded, making the park a perfect place for picnicking in the Berkshires. The space is also great for throwing a frisbee, playing catch, or kicking a soccer ball. Dogs are welcome at this park, and owners are asked to clean up after their pets. Pet waste bags and a trash can are provided near the sidewalk.
In the playground are multiple pieces of exercise equipment, including the park's most unique feature: a Gaga Ball pit, which will be hard to locate at public parks elsewhere in Western Massachusetts. The park is thus suitable for people of all ages for both passive and physical activities. Limited parking is available, but most parkgoers take advantage of its walkable area and trek to the park on foot from its surrounding neighborhoods. South Street is a quiet neighborhood road with a sidewalk and friendly residents, making the park a safe spot for kids to roam freely.
