About Pontoosuc Lake Park Beach

Pontoosuc Lake Park Beach is a family-friendly swimming area and picnic spot managed by the City of Pittsfield. The park is perfect for a short pitstop on warm days in Western Massachusetts. Upon arrival at the beach, visitors will find a concrete seawall and an expansive lawn. The seawall features numerous steps leading into the lake. There, visitors can enter the water, swim, and cool down on hot summer days. The grass lawn, meanwhile, is an ideal spot to lay down on a blanket and watch the clouds pass overhead.

There is also a picnic table where visitors can eat lunch alongside scenic views of the lake. Plenty of local wildlife species, including migratory waterfowl, are easy to find on the water throughout the year. Then, when the weather cools in autumn, the surrounding mountains often burst with the yellows and oranges of fall foliage.

There are two parking areas for Pontoosuc Lake Park Beach off Route 7. Visitors will also find parking for the Pontoosuc Lake Park Boat Launch and Picnic Area on westbound Hancock Road, which intersects with Route 7 on the south side of the lake. The City of Pittsfield currently has plans to further develop the park and its facilities in the future.
