About Linear Park

Linear Park is a riverside park and hiking area in Williamstown. At the parking lot, visitors will find a tennis court and a trailhead. The tennis court, which rests on a small grass field, is perfect for one-on-one games on hot summer days. Lower Linear Park is connected to Mt. Pleasant Playground.

The trailhead, meanwhile, leads to a small network of hiking trails on the property. These easy, family-friendly pathways travel alongside a Western Massachusetts floodplain ecosystem. The River Loop, for example, takes visitors through a sycamore-cottonwood forest to the confluence of the Green River and the Hoosic River. Many local wildlife species are visible in this environment throughout the summer, including songbirds and amphibians.

Linear Park eventually connects to the Mohawk Trail multi-use path, spanning from the Spruces to Syndicate Road in Williamstown. This path is excellent for biking, walking, or rollerblading in the Berkshires. The trail is paved toward the west but soon turns to gravel near the Spruces. There are plans to expand the pathway to the City of North Adams.

Visitors will find parking in a small dirt lot off westbound Route 2, just before Aubuchon Hardware.
