About Lakewood Park

Lakewood Park is a grass field and athletic complex managed by the City of Pittsfield. Overall, visitors will have several options for an enjoyable day of outdoor recreation in the Berkshires.

The park features a basketball court, a softball field, soccer goals, and two tennis courts. Each facility is perfect for athletes of all ages, whether for competitive team play or individual practice.

The park also has a picnic table and an expansive lawn, making it an ideal spot for a summertime picnic. Families can bring lunch, play a game at one of the athletic facilities, and relax under the sun. The surrounding forest also offers numerous wildlife-viewing opportunities. The East Branch of the Housatonic River, which flows directly adjacent to the park, provides a habitat for many species native to the Berkshires. Visitors will likely hear a variety of songbirds and amphibians during their time at the park.

There is no designated parking lot for Lakewood Park. Visitors should park on the shoulder of Newell Street where appropriate.

Accessibility Assessment

There are no accessible features at this location.

There is no designated parking area for Lakewood Park, so visitors should street park on nearby streets. There is no direct path access to any of the amenities at Lakewood Park, so visitors will have to walk through the grass. From the street, there is a short grassy embankment down to the flat grassy fields. There is gate access to both the tennis facilities and to part of the baseball fields. These gates are both 4 feet wide. Also, both the tennis courts and basketball courts are prone to standing water, which can make them slippery at times.
