Greene Park, a centrally-located town park in Monterey, offers various outdoor activities for family-friendly fun in the Berkshires. The playground is packed with unique features that can entertain the park's youngest visitors with plenty of equipment for climbing, swinging, jumping, and sliding. A Little League-sized baseball diamond provides a space for youth baseball and softball, and there is also a two-hoop basketball court on site. The park is well-used and kept in excellent condition.
Toward the outfield of the baseball field, there is a small forest owned by the town. While there are no trails, it can be a fun place to explore the woods without venturing far away from the park. The sloped ground entering the woods can also be a comfortable place to lie down under a shaded canopy of evergreen trees. A couple of picnic tables at the park also make for a good place to set up a home base. There is plenty of space around the park to lay a blanket and eat lunch.
Visitors can access the park by parking at Town Hall. The park is in the charming town center of Monterey, a rural Western Massachusetts community. The town center contains other small, family-friendly recreational spaces within walking distance of Greene Park. There is typically a portable restroom provided during peak season.
