Information
Freeman Playground is a small, family-friendly park and sports complex in the City of North Adams. The park is ideal for short pitstops and long game days in the Berkshires. When arriving at Freeman Playground, visitors will see a small woodchipped play structure. Benches rest around the playground equipment, allowing parents to relax and watch their children play. Because the play area is underneath a grove of maple trees, there is ample shade on hot summer days. When these trees drop their leaves in the fall, they generate a colorful carpet throughout the park. They also create a habitat for local Western Massachusetts wildlife species. Birds and squirrels are easily seen throughout the spring and summer.
There are also several sporting fields in the park. The property features an outdoor basketball court where athletes of all ages can engage in team play. A small baseball field then rests in the back corner of the park, perfect for individual practice and youth games.
Visitors should park in a parking lot on Orchard Terrace: a small road off Hospital Avenue.

This site has a small area for parking where cars may pull into the grass, off a paved road. The grass is flat. There is a paved path that runs from this parking lot to the playground, basketball court, and swings. The path is 5-feet-wide. The playground has mulch flooring and offers no accessible features, but all components are touching the ground. The whole park is flat, and even.
