About Fife Brook Fishing/Boating Access

Fife Brook Fishing and Boating Access will bring visitors to the Deerfield River. This river flows throughout Western Massachusetts and is well-known for rafting and whitewater kayaking. This launch point offers paddlers access to Class II rapids.

Additionally, at this access point, visitors will find that the river’s waters are excellent for fly fishing. Coldwater fish populations, such as Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout, are abundant in the river throughout the year. Anglers can wade into the water and relax as the fish swim by.

On the Deerfield River, visitors will greet scenic views and diverse wildlife. Numerous local bird species, such as hawks and herons, are easily visible along the side of the river. The Berkshires also rise from the river’s edges, providing boaters with excellent mountain views at all times of the year. When the weather cools, these hills eventually turn yellow and orange with the vibrance of fall foliage.

Visitors will find a parking area on the side of River Road, between the Hoosac Tunnel and the Bear Swamp Hydroelectric Dam. This parking area also features a boating launch point for paddlers. This area may become crowded during the summertime as rafters and kayakers descend the river’s Class II and Class III rapids.
