The Clark Art Institute is an art museum and research center in Western Massachusetts. Along with showcasing famous artists like Winslow Homer and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, the institute also offers several outdoor recreation opportunities. This parking area will bring visitors to the Lunder Center, which provides visitors access to an extensive hiking area.
Behind the Clark Art Institute, the Stone Hill trail network spreads throughout the surrounding forests and fields. From the Lunder Center, hikers will travel through a dense woodland of maples and hemlocks. Then, the Pasture Trail will bring visitors to the top of Stone Hill: an active cow pasture that features expansive scenic views of Williamstown and the surrounding Berkshires. Visitors can also hike south on the Stone Hill Road Trail and arrive at Kite Hill, which has further views of the nearby mountains.
Closer to the main building of the Clark Art Institute, visitors will find a reflecting pool, several lawn chairs, and picnic tables. This is an excellent place to relax, eat lunch in the shade, and chat with friends or family on warm summer days.
Parking for the Lunder Center can be found on a paved road that branches from South Street at the Clark Art Library. Visitors will find additional parking at the main parking lot for the museum.
