About Boat Ramp at Ashmere Lake State Forest

Ashmere Lake is a 217-acre lake in the Berkshires providing motor boat and paddling recreation. The lake is divided into north and south lakes, divided by Route 143. There are several summer camps on the lake, including Camp Danbee and Camp Taconic, so visitors in the summer may see kids playing in the water and learning to swim or water ski. The lake is popular for fishing, with the opportunity to catch bass, pickerel, perch, and more.

Boat access to Ashmere Lake is available through a state-provided boat ramp accessed off of Hickingbotham Road in Hinsdale. The ramp offers a paved ramp for motor boats but is also used for hand-launching canoes and kayaks.
