Big Pond Beach provides Otis residents with an excellent access point to Big Pond, as well as a space to enjoy summer weather and the offerings of the Berkshires outdoors. The waterfront property of Big Pond Beach is vast, with tons of field space and a sizeable sand beach, offering various options for utilizing the park.
Visitors can lie on the sand, build a sandcastle, or choose to throw a frisbee on the grass. Additionally, several picnic tables and a pavilion on the beach provide seating structures and shaded areas, which can be utilized for rest or a picnic. The water is open for swimming and includes a floating dock close to the shore. It should be noted that the swimming area is not guarded, so users must be cautious.
Big Pond Beach is owned and managed by the Western Massachusetts Town of Otis. Per the town’s rules, beach access is limited to Otis residents and their guests. The beach is open from dawn to dusk, and a large parking lot onsite makes arrival and departure straightforward. The beach allows kayaks and canoes to be launched, though launching boats from trailers is not permitted. Check out the Big Pond Boat Launch and related details for an alternative option to legally launch boats.
