About Ashley Falls Woods

Ashley Falls Woods, located on Ashley Falls Road in Sheffield, is a 24-acre park within walking distance of the village of Ashley Falls. Whether looking to walk the dog or take a restorative trip into the forest, this property's extensive walking trail network gives parkgoers various options for outdoor exploration in the southernmost section of the Berkshires. These trails experience little elevation gain and are mostly well-kept, making them ideal for a peaceful stroll through the forest. Surrounding the trails is a rich collection of plant and animal species rare to Western Massachusetts, offering a unique experience to visitors. Visitors remark on the site's charming cobbles, and among them is a small old quarry that can be explored and investigated by those who find it.

By the entrance is a sizable field with multiple shaded areas provided by various tall pine trees. When the grass is low, this space can make a good picnic area that offers a woodsy feel without venturing far off the beaten path. The property's entrance provides multiple parking spots and rests under a canopy of Eastern White Pines. There are also a couple of benches and an informational kiosk by the trailhead leading into the forest.
