Stafford Hill Rd Parking Area South
Stafford Hill WMA
Cheshire, MA
Hunting
This parking area will bring visitors to the northern end of Stafford Hill Wildlife Management Area. At the parking lot, visitors will greet an open field with scenic views of Mount Greylock toward the west. The WMA has been working to restore meadows and young forest environments, which create unique ecosystems and beautiful vistas for visitors to observe. Rare habitats, like a calcareous sloping fen, can also be found in the area.
Stafford Hill WMA offers an ideal place for wildlife viewing and hunting during appropriate Western Massachusetts seasons. For example, vast meadows and groves of quaking aspen provide excellent habitats for game birds. At the right time of year, the WMA is populated by ring-necked pheasants, ruffed grouse, and American woodcock. The property is also home to other game animals, including wild turkey and white-tailed deer.
The parking area is on Stafford Hill Road, north of the Stafford Hill Monument.
