About Sara Tenney Trailhead

The Sara Tenney Trailhead will bring visitors to an expansive hiking area in Taconic Trail State Forest. Overall, visitors will have several options for an enjoyable day of outdoor recreation in Western Massachusetts.

Going left at the trailhead, visitors will climb on the RRR Brooks Trail and the Shepards Well Trail until the Taconic Crest. Both of these trails are rocky and wide, and they travel through dense hardwood forests. Before the Shepards Well Trail intersects with the Taconic Crest Trail, visitors will see scenic views of the surrounding Berkshires. There is also an overlook of New York near Route 2 on the Taconic Crest Trail.

Heading straight at the trailhead, visitors can choose between the Sarah Tenney Trail and the RRR Brooks Trail, which both descend toward Bee Hill Road. Near the top of the Sara Tenney Trail, at its intersection with the RRR Brooks Trail, is a picnic table with panoramic scenic views of the surrounding Berkshires. Visitors can bring lunch, eat, and watch the clouds pass overhead. When the weather cools in autumn, this area also showcases the yellows and oranges of fall foliage on the mountains.

There is parking in a large pull-off on the shoulder of eastbound Route 2. Visitors must cross Route 2 to reach the trailhead.
