Appalachian Trail Trailhead - State Road
Appalachain Trail Corridor
North Adams, MA
Snowshoeing | Hiking
This trailhead provides an entrance to Florida State Forest. Immediately upon parking, visitors will find a dense, undeveloped patch of Western Massachusetts forest. Beech and maple trees dominate this forest, and plenty of other wildlife species will be visible from the trail. While wildflowers bloom on the forest floor in the spring, birds are easily heard singing from the forest canopy in the summer. The forest is also an excellent spot for hunting. The low-traveled woods create a tranquil place to find white-tailed deer when the season arrives.
Visitors will find a small parking lot off westbound Route 2, just before the trailhead for the Hoosac Range Trail. A muddy double-track trail leads further into the woods.
